Life is an oriented graph (-schizo-)

‘hi’
‘oh … hi there’
‘please describe me how you see life
‘hmm … life …  is like an oriented graph witch has to be traversed  by some algorithm.  It’s the efficiency of the algorithm that makes you explore more nodes and be satisfied about them, so be careful what you chose!

First you have the start node which represents the fact that you got borne. From there, a few nodes come out like the ‘learn to walk ’ node, ‘learn to eat at the table’ node, ‘learn to go to the bathroom’ node, ‘learn to brush your teeth’ node, ‘learn to speak’  node etc.  Once you’ve got through those nodes, you’ll be able to get to the  ‘kindergarten’ node. You have to go there in order to get use to live with others (what you basically will do all of your life if, of course,  you don’t intend to become Mogli). Then, lets say the ‘primary school’ node comes, and after a while the ‘high school’ node. But it’s not all about school (that means not all nodes are related to school). There are also nodes related to family, friends, relationships, personal accomplishments (maybe music, drawing, sports). Then, it comes the university and then you get employed. After that you may build your own company and work for yourself. In the meantime you may form a family (get married, have kids). Then it comes the retirement. In the meantime your kids got older and may have their own kids. So these are a few nodes, the very basics ones.
There can be many others (maybe tough challenges that life puts them in your way).

So at any point or in any node you are (even if it’s the ‘King of the world’ node), that node will always expand, and many many other nodes will be waiting for you to explore them. You’ll never be 100% satisfied with the node you are in and as the time passes, the satisfaction of being there decreases until it’ll reach 0.  So you’ll want to raise your satisfaction level (because this is all about) and you may think that exploring the node X will be the solution and you’ll pack your bags and try to get to X. You’ll fell miserable because going there is not so easy. You’ll soon discover that not even time can make the miserable feeling disappear because you already have in your head  that node X is the solution.

At some point maybe your dream will come true and you’ll wake up on top of node X. You’ll stay there happy one or two days and all of a sudden you’ll see some paths that lead you to some other nodes, and you’ll be curious about them.  That curiosity will make you forget all the happiness you recently had and you’ll now have a new goal and a new satisfaction level that is waiting  to be raised.

So, to highlight the basics:

  1. you’ll always find yourself in one node
  2. doesn’t matter how much you’ve explored so far and how deep in the tree you are, life always offers you more nodes and you’ll always want more to conquer
  3. doesn’t matter where you are at the moment (maybe ‘20.000.000$ account’ node), there always will be moments when you’ll feel miserable because you haven’t explored node X yet (maybe ‘100.000.000$ account’ node + ‘go to space’ node)
  4. it is an oriented graph because you have to run through nodes in a specific way (you do understand that normally you can not go   from the ‘university’ node to the ‘learning to talk’ node)
  5. you can skip nodes (nobody will force you to go to the ‘20.000.000 $ account’ node if you don’t want to). There are lots and lots of vertices that allow you to skip as many nodes as you want, but pay attention: some nodes relay on others, so it’s very likely that maybe you have to explore 100 specific nodes in order to get to X node (you realize that you can not go to Harvard if you’ve only graduated kindergarten so far)
  6.  Have you ever heard about Dijkstra’s algorithm? Well, this is how life goes: you are at one point and you want to get to another point (buy a yacht,  a mansion, an airplane or maybe have Pamela Anderson as your girlfriend) but as the same time spend the least amount of effort/money/nerves as possible.

Ok. So did you understand what’s  life all about? ’

‘Yeah… definitely! It’s all about the fact that you’re a fu**ing HopelessNeard !’
